Getting There & Away
Melbourne Airport is located approximately 25 kms from the Melbourne's CBD — less than 30 minutes by car. Bus and taxi services are easy accessible to help you
get to and from Melbourne Airport, and Melbourne Airport has a range of parking and rental car options to get you easily to or from the terminals.
To access Melbourne Airport by private vehicle, you will be required to obtain a CityLink pass. Please note: For rental car customers, please discuss CityLink options
with your rental car company.
Additionally, information regarding getting to and from the Airport can be obtained at the Information Desk located in the Arrivals Hall, Ground Floor, International
terminal.

Departing Passengers
Check In
The check in counters for international passengers are located on the first floor of the International Terminal.
When checking in, you must have the following documents:
- Passport
- Travel documents
- Departing passenger card
Once checked in, the departure gates are located behind the Sky Plaza, on the same level as the check in desks.
Facilities Available
Disabled facilities:
Toilet facilities for travellers and visitors with disabilities are provided throughout the terminal. Arrivals and departure levels are linked
by travelators and lifts. Wheelchairs can be arranged through your airline for departing and arriving passengers.
Left Luggage:
Self-storage lockers are temporarily unavailable at Melbourne Airport. If you would like to leave you luggage, there
are facilities available in the International Arrivals Hall.
Showers:
Public shower facilities are located near the toilet areas on the departure level. Towels and shower kits can be hired from Collins Booksellers in the SkyPlaza.
Customs and Immigration - Departures
Currency:
There is no limit on the amount of Australian or foreign cash that may be taken out of Australia. However, amounts of A$10,000 or more must be reported
to customs before departure.
National Heritage Items:
Items important to Australia's natural heritage cannot be taken out of Australia without a permit. If you
are in doubt about an item, please contact: Heritage Protection Section of the Department of Communication and Arts.

Flora and Fauna:
The export of live birds, reptiles and other species is generally prohibited. In all cases an export permit must be issued by the Wildlife
Protection Authority before export occurs. An Australian Export permit for manufactured crocodile products is required and should be provided at the
time of purchase. If you are in doubt about any item contact the Wildlife Protection Authority.
Arriving Passengers
When arriving in Melbourne, passengers should proceed to the Entry Control Point. You should have the following documents ready:
- Passport
- Completed Incoming Passenger Card
Once processed, you may proceed to baggage reclaim to collect your bags.
What to declare?
Don't forget to declare any necessary items, as there are severe penalties for failing to declare articles that are prohibited, restricted or for
which you are required to pay duty/sales tax. Australian Customs Service (link) provides information on what to declare.
Payment of duty/sales tax can be made in cash, travellers cheques ($A) and by all major credit cards.
If you disagree with the amount of duty/sales tax assessed, do not make a payment and request to see the senior Customs officer on duty.
Amount of $A10,000 or more need to be reported on arrival (currency does not include travellers cheques).
