When Flying
Check in times
With extra security now at the airport you are required to check in: 45 minutes prior to departure for domestic flights and 90 minutes prior to departure
for international flights.
Security Screening
All persons entering security areas such as departure lounges are required to be security checked. All hand luggage will also be screened.
Please ensure that you do not carry any metal or sharp objects as these will be confiscated.
Luggage Tags
To ensure your luggage doesn’t get mixed up with other travelers, label all your luggage with luggage tags, which can be picked
up at the airport near the check in desks. You can also place something distinctive on your luggage that you recognize as being yours, such as a bright ribbon or coloured
security belt
Overseas Visitors
Departure tax
A departure tax of AUD$39 is included in the price of your airline tickets. Exemptions apply to children under 12 years, 24-hour transit passengers
or transit passengers who stay longer than a day if departure is delayed by circumstances beyond their control.
Driver's licence
International driving permits are recommended.
Electricity
240/250 volts AC 50HZ. Universal outlets for 110 volts (shavers only) are standard in hotels, apartments and motels.
Passport/Visas
Visas are required by all visitors traveling to Australia except for New Zealand passport holders.

Transport Options
There are any number of options available to passengers travelling to and from Gold Coast Airport.
Taxis are available immediately outside the Terminal with travelling time to the centre of Surfers Paradise approx 25 minutes and Byron Bay approx 40 minutes.
If you feel like arriving at your accommodation in style, why not pre-book a limousine to pick you up on arrival. Fares for limousines are fixed prior to pick up so you are aware of the final cost.
If you would prefer to travel like the locals, why not catch a bus? The Airport Link shuttle will take you, free of charge, to the Gold Coast Highway where public transport is readily available.
Pre-booked coach transport to your accommodation is also conveniently located within the Terminal.

Duty Free/ Tax Free
Travellers are allowed to bring into Australia the following goods duty/tax free. Goods bought overseas or bought duty/tax free before leaving Australia
are included when determining your duty free allowance.
$A400 worth of goods not including tobacco or alcohol ($A200 for travellers under 18 years of age). For example,
cameras, electronic equipment, leather goods, perfume concentrate, jewellery, watches, sporting goods, etc.
1125 ml alcoholic liquor (including wine, beer or spirits) for travellers aged 18 years and over.
Tobacco - 250 cigarettes, or 250 grams of cigars or tobacco products other than cigarettes, for travellers aged
18 years and over.
Most personal items such as new clothing, footwear, articles for personal hygiene/grooming.
Personal goods owned and used by you for at least 12 months can also be brought into Australia without payment of
duty and tax (proof of date of purchase may be required).
Personal goods do not include motor vehicles and motor vehicles parts regardless of the length of time used and
owned.
Members of the same family who are travelling together may combine their individual duty/tax free
allowances. Gifts
(given to you or intended for others) are counted as part of the $A400 duty free allowance.
